As an intern at Quora, I've had the chance to work on many different parts of the product this summer. This week the company is hosting Quorachella--a company-wide hackathon where we get dedicated time to work on projects that we think will have a big impact but aren't on the official product plan. These "offroad" projects range in size. For example, Scott Liao
(a new engineer who started 9 days ago) and I decided to enable you to add your LinkedIn account on your Quora profile. Last night, we got a headstart on Quorachella, working until the morning to finish the project. We're excited to be the first team to ship!
Now you can go to your Settings page (http://www.quora.com/settings
) and connect your LinkedIn account. Once you do so, you'll see a link to your LinkedIn account on your Quora profile, helping people interested in your professional background get a better sense of who you are. Many people use Quora to learn about others' expertise, leading to job offers and consulting gigs. We hope this feature will help make these connections easier.
We're going to sleep a bit now so we can start on a second Quorachella project later on. Tomorrow night, Thursday, July 26 6-9pm is our Intern Open House, so if you RSVP'ed for that, we look forward to seeing you there and demo'ing our new feature!
